Castle strikes gold in food hygiene inspection
Stratford District Council has rewarded the hard work of the Castle Inn, Edgehill licensees Tony and Sue Sheen and their staff with its highest award for the standards of food preparation and safety.
The council has a duty under the Food Safety Act 1990 to inspect all food businesses in the district to ensure that food hygiene standards are maintained – and it has rewarded the very best performers with a Gold Award. Tony Sheen said: “Its great news that our high standards have been rewarded with this Gold Award. “Inspectors made several visits to the pub, including some spot inspections.
But we passed every test and I am confident that not only are the standards of all those who work in the pub of the very highest quality, but that safer food means better business.”
A spokesman for the council said: “The aim of the scheme is to promote those businesses who provide food and drink to consumers that live, work or are visiting Stratford District. “It encourages best practice within these businesses and drives them to achieve excellence.”
