Hooky Pint goes for world record in London Marathon while raising money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
The Hooky Pint, aka Gill Begnor, is looking to break the world record for the fastest time for a woman dressed as a bottle to run a marathon.
Hook Norton resident Gill has entered the London Marathon on 25 April, and she hopes to complete the 26 mile and 385 yards (42.195km) course in under five hours to break the Guinness World Record. In doing so, Gill will be raising hundreds of pounds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Gill is no stranger to running long distances as her first marathon was in 2008 – when she ran carrying a pint of Hooky Gold in four hours 20 minutes. Gill said: “That was certainly the longest time I have ever held a pint of Hooky without drinking it. “In 2008 I carried the pint of beer. I hope to complete the marathon again but this time I shall be the pint,” said Gill. “I have now run a half marathon in the Hooky bottle costume and I can honestly say that the London Marathon is going to be the hardest thing physically that I have ever done,” she said. “I remember very clearly telling myself between the 16 mile mark and the end of the 2008 marathon that I was never going to run a marathon again in my life.
I have yet to figure out how I have ended up committing to running it dressed as a pint of beer.” And Gill promises to keep running for charity until cures for leukaemia & lymphoma are found. “I am determined not to stop running until we have found a cure for these terrible diseases.
So please, sponsor the Hooky Pint and help me raise money to fund more of this vital research,” she said. The Pint now has a website where you can follow the marathon preparation and sponsor him.
If you sponsor before 26 March, Just Giving will give an extra £500 sponsorship to the person who gets the most sponsors before that date.
The minimum donation is only £2 and every one will count. www.HookyPint.co.uk
