      <description><![CDATA[Kevin and Carol Nichol are the new licensees at the Volunteer Inn, Grove, Wantage in Oxfordshire. And the couple, who have recently returned to the country after 20 years in South Africa, plan to put their Hook Norton pub at the heart of community life. When the pub first opened in the 19th Century it was called the Rifle Volunteer, a tribute no doubt to many local people who joined the army.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[The Bell Inn at Adderbury, Oxfordshire will be joining other pubs across the country by going smoke-free for one day - 14 March - to mark national No Smoking Day. Banning smoking for one day will give the pub an insight into the challenges of running a smoke-free pub before the national smoking ban, which begins on 1 July. It will also help customers to get used to the ban.]]></description>
